Around Adícora

The Peninsula de Paraguana, on whose Eastern shore Adícora is situated, lies only 15 miles south of the well known island of Aruba. You can, if you choose, fly to Adícora via Curacao or Aruba, maybe taking in the sights of these Dutch Caribbean neighbors along the way (while you'll be spending considerably more money than in Adícora, you also may win your fortune in one of their fine casinos).

The high wind season in Adícora enjoys constant and strong tradewinds, and is at its peak from January until September. Other months provide plenty of good sailing days also, but not quite as consistently. When we still don't get enough, my friends and I have been known to continue in the moonlight. Once we tried shooting photos with a waterproof camera and a flashlight. Nearby towns such as El Supi and Buchuaco are an easy trek and offer clear conditions to examine sea life, and Adícora does too when the wind calms. At those times, the reef is a sight to behold.

Surf Safaris

If you want to get to know some different spots and beaches with a Jeep, and spend a surfing and barbecue day checking out one or more different areas. One possible destination is Buchoaco, only 5 km north of Adícora. You can even sail there, an easy downwind reach once you round the reef. There, sailing conditions there are side-onshore, as well. Almost symmetrical to Adícora, you can jump with your right foot in front, on a starboard tack. Other destinations are 70 or 80 kilometers away, one with a windy, rocky coast and some small sand beaches or we can try "El Pico" with very strong winds and flat water.
