The strongest and most consistent winds in Adícora blow from February through July, with the typical day falling in the 18-25 knot range. Last year ('97), excellent conditions continued through August. Adícora is a lazy man's sailing town, as the wind continues builds through the early afternoon and continues into the evening. This leaves you with plenty of time to study the natural swing frequency of your hammock earlier in the day. It is not uncommon for your final jibe to coincide with the last glimmer of sunlight sneaking over the horizon.
The Peninsula is essentially a desert, and forests of giant cacti can be found in the region. Days are quite hot, with highs averaging around 90°F (33°C) and fluctuating little throughout the year. Water temperature averages 75°F (24°C). When the effects of the high wind against the skin and the decreased intensity of the late afternoon sun combine, it is possible to feel a little chilly while out on the water. Though by no means a necessity, a thin shorty, rash guard, or vest is not a bad idea and is used by some regulars. This will also offer protection from the sun. Needless to say, a high-SPF sunscreen is a must, especially for those first, "doughboy" days.
Night time lows of 70°F (21°C) are typical. A light long-sleeve shirt is occasionally appropriate. It rarely rains during the day, and if it does, not for long. The summer months occasionally see violent and intense thunderstorms during the midnight hours.
